I have to say most of the 3day courses I can find are anything around 400 quid. I don't think I'd pass the exam with out the training, its 12 years since i took my 16th, and i didn't use it for ten years so very rusty.

are there any isolation courses out there?

The 17th edition exam - it's not like a proper exam where you need experience ect... all it is, is getting to know you're way around the regs or BGB (big green book)

So for this course, against my better judgement - you're probably better off buying a 17th am1 edition book off amazon, and revising like mad yourself and asking questions on here when stuck. Especially when it costs £400 and uve already got the 16th.

It's a multiple choice exam on the regs, 4answers and uve got to pick the correct one...honestly buddy its not difficult, when i had to do the update a few years ago i didn't even really revise...obviouslly use the book day to day so i know it, but still its easy buddy.

have a scan through this, learn how to navigate your way through the reg's, and then decide if you want to do the course. you might find it gives you the confidence to go it alone. good luck, whatever you decide.

Having spent the 4 weeks doing the course and by 4 weeks I actually means 4 days split over 4 weeks. I would say its not as easy as u think. It's not just about passing an exam it's about knowledge and that's what the course gives u. Buying the green book as someone has suggest is not wise it's mind boggling trying to find your way round it
