Friend is putting up a dropped ceiling using pvcu cladding about 130mm lower than the original plastered ceiling. She lives in a maisonette ( ground floor ) the room being worked on is on the 1st floor with 1 property above ( 3rd and 4th floor). Her place is cold and she gets abit of noise from above so she is going to use accustic insulation between I think it's fire rated earthwool and space loft maybe one or both not sure). Her current lighting has surface mounted wiring.

How can she have downlights without hindering the effect of the insulation while keeping it safe?
Can led downlights be in contact or close to insulation? What about fire rated efficient halogen be ok?
