Hello all.

I've been searching around the forums but can't seem to find anything recent.

I'm after a clamp meter to measure current generally but would like one that is accurate enough to detect earth leakage at a reasonably accurate level.

The company I work for has loads of nuisance RCD trips on digital bus time signs around the UK and I have the wonderful job of diagnosing and repairing the faults.

I can't manage to get my boss to spend £300 on a Megger one

Got mine from Test meter about a month ago and have used it on two jobs so far, one was a fridge and the other was a kettle. Does help narrow down faulty appliances quite quickly used with an appropriate "testing lead'.
It is certaintly helping me in my fault finding although I'm no expert.

With RCD devices now required on virtually every installation, an earth leakage clamp tester is as vital a piece of test equipment as an MFT. Every electrician should have one now!!

The Di-log and TM is about the best budget clamp tester out there. It actually matches or betters some much more expensive units that are out there on the market!!

You're having a laugh aren't you?? Why would you spend 3 times or more over the cost of the TM model that gives as good a resolution as the FLUKE / MEGGER models etc!! If you work in specialised areas of the industry, then i might agree with you, but for everyday use, i wouldn't, ...and didn't!! lol!!
