Hi there,
Not posted for a while so bear with me.

Need to do a electric shower and will complete a EIC and I guess schedule of tests page will only have that circuit on it.Or as I have split tails and put a henry block in do I need to test the whole house.A seperate RCCB unit will be installed for the shower so I will not touch the existing CU ,its full anyway and house owner wired it years ago.

Any advice welcome,thank you

I understand that Des, but IAW with the BRB and on-site guide it says tails should be 25mm or is that only on a main CU

Regards

Chris

The way i look at these sort of things,is to assess what the maximum demand of the installation is going to be
The installation in this case is the shower unit

A dwelling can have a number of installations each with their own distribution board,my take then is that that the property ought to have one means of isolation also

A shower with a high KW rating with the cable run in de rating factor routes over a long distance is usually calculated to req 10mm max (some have installed as high as 16mm for a shower, but I have never)

16mm supply tails to the shower unit would be more than adequate for just about any shower cable installed

The on site guide is just that a guide
When they refer to mains tails,it would be with an whole house situation in mind
Even then there is no requirenet to fit 25mm tails if you have a max 60 amp supply fuse
It is sometimes better to wire in spare capacity for future proofing but there is nothing wrong with 16mm tails for installations in the right situations

Thats my view only:)

He could upgrade the mains tails to 25mm for the extra load if needed, to the henley block with 25 or/and 16mm from there out to the 2 boards
Two different tail sizes for 2 different installations off 1 supply origin
Each set of tails adequate for their installation

House fuse is 60 and existing CU has 25mm tails.I was going to do it in 25mm anyway as I have a few meters going spare.
I also have single core 25mm cable insulated but not sheathed as per meter tails.Could I use that at all in the future for this sort of work.As it is not meter tails could I use that from henley block to shower RCBO unit .
Back to my BRB to find the answer to that question.
Thanks for you help, great appreciation to you all.
