What i don't fully understand, is why does everything depend on government handouts when it comes to these big company apprenticeships?? I know for a fact that at the time of my apprenticeship the company i did my training with, didn't get a bean from the government!! They had a full blown indentured apprentice training scheme (for all disciplines, not just electrical) as well as many other training areas and even had it's own training centre that covered everything from shop floor management training, to engineering disciplines.
If it was in the best interests of companies back then, it must be still be worth in-house training of tradesmen now. In fact i'd say especially now, as from what i can see, most foundation C&G courses are these days, based around domestic installations, which is not what the likes of the bigger electrical contracting companies, would ideally be looking for!!!
