Discuss Hi What battery will run a 14.8v 4000mah fishing reel? in the Auto Electrician Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
Yes it is available but very expensive and from China post is more than the cost of the battery over £100 Am looking for a battery alternative eg boat battery or lithium as the reel has a lead with a cigarette plug on the end!A 14.8v 4Ah battery is probably available from the manufacturer of the rod?
do you have any pictures?
Would a smaller 12v boat battery or a lighter lithium one work ? If a lithium which one?if it comes with that fitted smoke plug, it's apparently designed to fit a car smoke lighter socket, so a 12V car battery with a smoke lighter socket fitted and a fuse in the +ve lead will do the job. just a big weight to lug around.
No it requires external power either a 12v battery or a screw on lithium on bottom( photo) under rubber cap. Would a 12v 45ah boat battery last for about 10 hours?I would have thought with that set up, the battery is already installed and the plug is just for charging?

assume it's not running continuously, that should last far more. what's the estimated usage time of the 4Ah £100 battery? i would be inclined to buy a 12V or 14V drill battery and charger. 4Ah should be plenty. No it requires external power either a 12v battery or a screw on lithium on bottom( photo) under rubber cap. That is unknown- as have not received reel yet …but if you have a 20lb cod on line the load on the battery will be greater. If I had a 14v drill battery how would I connect it ,and how long would it last as all fittings are different?assume it's not running continuously, that should last far more. what's the estimated usage time of the 4Ah £100 battery? i would be inclined to buy a 12V or 14V drill battery and charger. 4Ah should be plenty.
