Discuss How much did your 3.6kW system make yesterday/today? in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

anyone with sse?
my dad has just received a letter stating:
'From the 1st April there will be a change in the tariff rates set by DECC for your generation and export.

His install was done on the 8th December so surely they cannot alter his rates now?!

The rates are going up by inflation. Generation payment is going to 45.4p from 43.1p

Hi Tom - I received a letter from SSE this morning. I assume its the same one. If so it is just the annual review uprating of FITS rates - so good news hopefully.

Can I ask an expert the following -
Over the last 7 days will have generated around 140 KWH, way in excess of target, however never got above 3.2 KWP. Is this most likely to be because 1) the sun isn't high enough in sky yet, 2) high temp of panels causing normal inefficiencies or 3) any other reason

Probably the sun strength and position in the sky - especially with your flattish roof.
I am briefly peaking at 90% capacity on occasions in recent days but the peak is lasting maybe half an hour at most in mid-morning. My panels are 10 degrees steeper than yours, so are more directly at the sun at this time of year. In summer, the high sun will favour your panels over mine - although my panels may still do well because of facing into the morning sun when it is still quite low in the sky. But I won't get the mid-day, high-in-the-sky sun direct at my panels; it'll be above and to the side.

Thanks FB - I will just have to show a little patience and see the system perform for a year
43% ahead of SAP target but very early days

I have had my system in for one week now and we have made over 20kw every day except Saturday. Total for one week is 136kwh. We made 26kw yesterday which I thought was pretty good. I am really interested to know what the highest generation that can be seen in a single day from a 4kw system? Its only mid spring so I am keen to know what we could reach. My system: 16 x 245watt Sharp panels, Sunny Boy inverter and system size of 3.92kw

I've noticed a few South-facing, non-shaded, 4kWp systems manage almost exactly 25kWh on the best days in the last week.
SouthEast or SouthWest systems would be probably 22-23kWh on the best days.
I'm a little East of SouthEast, non-shaded and I'm peaking around 19kWh on the best days, with a 3.75kWp (so I'd be about 20-21kWh on the best days if I had 4kWp system).

My recent details (usually showing in my signature):
Sat 31/3: 8.3kWh (target 9.1). Cloudy start, some sunny spells later.
Sun 01/4: 19.1kWh (target 9.3). Sunny, occasional thin clouds.
Mon 02/4: 14.4kWh (target 9.4). Mixture of sunshine and cloud.
Total generation since installation: 16% above SAP target.

I would think that a South-facing, non-shaded, 4kWp system, on a 30-degree roof would be making about 30kWh on the best summer days.

You don't mention your location, your roof facing or the roof slope.

I would say that 26kw in a day is very good and I guess you are well located
We are entering the best time of year from now to the summer solstice -the enemy is heat so July/Aug/Sept will drop off.
So a bright cool windy spring with showers can be really good for generation!

I will have a years data soon and am not geographically ideal(ESE Peterborough) but will hit at least 3500Kwh for the year with my 4Kw Schuco system.

The various software predictions were around 3150Kwh so I will be quite happy with my overall system performance.

Incidentally my highest output for one day was 24.6Kw during the whole of last year(20/6/11) but most of last week was hitting 20Kw and 21Kw yesterday
