They are singles, they are inside trunking, it's not exactly hard to work out what the installation method is!

thats why im sticking with b, so i guess i will be upgrading the tails to 35mm thanks for the help, will brush up on my max As for cable

so dave if you where to test a installation that has all the perimeters i have described would you say the breaker needs down rating to a 80a?

I don't know without seeing the installation. If the load is limited to less than or equal to the ccc then I might not code it.

The nominal current may well be modified downwards by the application of the rating factors leading to the 25mm being ok. You really just have to do the calculation to be sure.

What is the ocpd? An mccb or fuses? If an mccb then adjust it to a suitable rating or if fuses swap them out.

You cannot just use the ccc tables without establishing Ib and In then applying rating factors to those values.
The ccc tables are designed for selecting a cable after the nominal current has been adjusted.

true just trying to come up with a soloution, i would just swap out the fuses but they are no longer in production and reclaimed ones are £600 each as the 80a ones are like rocking horse ....

basically the tester has just looked at the cable calc table and said the tails are not sufficient so i guess i will just swap them to 35mm as its a easy job.

glad i asked the question though as i will now be more keen to consult the regs rather than just assuming

mem mel803
bill also fit but no one has them they just go for silly money, supply and demands a bitch haha just look at them on ebay or any reclaimers all £500+

I think that the tester may of possibly gone slightly overboard on the coding,if the load is 50A and has no provision to have other connected loads then surely if no damage/overheating and all other tests have been done and everything is present and correct it may be unjustified works,It could of just had some supporting documents with pictures added to the EICR for future reference.

How come you have had an inspector in to do an eicr but you are completeing all obs, if you dont mind the question?

It's the most sensible option for the customer.
Having the company who carry out the eicr do the remedial works encourages the inspector to code items unnecessarily to generate work. Knowing that they will not get the remedial works encourages a more honest report.

I have a customer who I do the remedialls for but don't do the EICRs, mainly because I just don't want to do the EICRs because it's a mugs game and isn't financially worth doing.
