Im inspecting and testing a photo studio where there will be staff working there.

There is a 3 phase Distribution board with no RCD protection.

Do all the breakers have to be changed to RCBO's

no, in myopinion, it wont fail inspection if the circuits dont have rcd protection, escpecially in commercial environment, if you do have rcd it might trip every day

Not if this installation was prior to the 17th edition which i take it is as you are doing a PIR. Thing that would need additional protection by RCD are socket outlets that may be used for portable handheld equipment outside the equipotential zone. All other instances of lack of RCD's would only be coded 4.

I wouldn't think it would fail either, but note it under your oberservations/ recommendations box (on the test cert) that you would recommend the change.

Why would you recommend it be changed if it complies to the edition of the regs to which it was designed and installed?

why does it need RCBOs at all? unless sockets are feeding equipment outside equipotentioal zones

commercial enviroments should be RCD protected , to quote the RCD may trip every day , if there is a fault may , i have a heavy industrial site which every circuit is RCD protected and it never trips unless there is a fault .

I agree with sintras post 100%

Hi Sintra, Yeah I know what you are saying... Would still be noted in the obeservations box right? But I'm wrong in saying you'd recommend the upgrade to a modern equivelant? Sorry if thats misleading info :(
