as long as the seller has good feedback and you pay using paypal, so as to have a comeback if there are any problems, go for it.

check they are genuine

I "question" why so many kits are for sale on ebay Uk and Gumtree uk . either stolen from mail order etc or fake. Just far too many every week .

I find brand new gear on ebay expensive compared to the cheapest websites. I got this theory that as people's perceptions of ebay have been that "it's dirt cheap" a lot of sellers are chancing their hand and putting up the prices in the hope buyers wont look elsewhere.... This last couple of weeks I've been looking at naked bosch 18v li Circular saws, cheapest online (toolstop) £130; cheapest Ebay= ranging from £157 to £175

i compared ebay to most the other big power tool retailers and on average the saving about 20 - 40 quid, but suppose jus gota be careful they are genuine.

Maybe prices of new tools have dropped in the last year or so given the recession so people who are selling used tools at maybe 75% of what they paid are actually asking the same price as you can buy new.

I am looking at some power tools on ebay myself- A 800w corded bosch , Looking likely that I have that bought by tomorrow evening once the seller answers a little question I sent him

the other item im not sure about- It is the older non lithion 24v sds drill, the black one with yellow nobs, its at a good enough price only panasonic has discontinued making them, what advice would you give here if they are being discontinued-Im thinking about availability of batteries in the future

Unless they are new i would be very wary about buying battery drills off ebay ive had a couple and the batteries have been shot so be warned screwfix have some very good deals , even B and Q do

oh yes they are both new items,Wouldnt buy a used cordless myself just in case.
I am stuck between the hitachi and the panasonic- the panny is being replaced by the li ion model but has 2
2.8Ah Ni-Mh batts and the hitachi 2.0Ah nicads, from what Iv read here Ni-Mh batteries were the better ones and panasonic aregood with their batteries

quick question- when you buy a brand new corded drill, Bosch 2-26 DRE in my case, should it come with instructions?

insert bit, press on wall, press trigger. stop when you hit a water or gas pipe. what more instruction do you want?

I want to know if instructions come with a new drill because Iv just recieved the one that I bought on ebay 3 days ago and I can tell its a fake,im near sure it is. So does new drills come with instructions

I have reasons for it being a fake

1. no instructions, came with some bits
2.Wrong model printed on drill and also Lettering of "Bosch" not aligned
3.plugtap not screwed on fully
4.had chineese symbols on the masking tape on wrapping!
5.seller had an email that ended with .RU (Russian) although based in England.
6. the biggest defect of all- the handle still turns when fully tightened

I didnt even know you could sell fakes on ebay, the guy had over 600 positive feedbacks though, that made me think it was ok.
Iv plugged it in and tried it, goes and feels v powerful but have not used any bits yet as I may have to keep it unused
do you want the link on ebay so you can see for yourselfs

so many brands are faked. Even Milwaukee etc !!! I see so much of the fake Makita ate car boot sales etc .

Sellers have worked out that its "easier" to sell as "S/H " and splat a bit of dirt and paint around the unit and case etc, bit of dust and a few odd bits etc . Its only when you get it home you know !!
