Has anyone got any recent experience with this type of project.. Its a new build leisure facility, 18m sq. sports barn, 2x large meeting/function rooms, various stores, toilets and receptions etc. I have not had much time to look at this in too much depth and have not properly quoted anything similar for a long time to use as a reference/quick template.
Hey ho onwards and upwards, I have tried to estimate as carefully as I can based on types of points ie high level, surface flush etc allowed plenty of time for drilling, cable management, testing etc and have come up with about 2 1/2 months work and a price.

To cross check this price I divided the estimate by the number of points, then by my hourly rate for 2nd yr apprentice and myself and this equated to an average time of 1.9 hours per point for a man and boy for first and second fixing.

Does this sound reasonable? It seemed a little high to me but there is a fair mix of dificulty in some areas of the job, 12m high ceiing plas conduit work in the sports barn, severally areas have fair faced brick, one area a bit of loop in conduit in the screed, loads of joists to drill as ceilings are vaulted plasterboard, architects, main contractors and late deliveries etc... Whilst we can whizz low level recessed fittings in as fast as you like, and there are quite a few there, the 18 highbays in the sports hall are going to soon drag that average time down as are the high level smokes and cable management in that area

Any second, third and fourth opinions on this time per point guestimate would be gratefully recieved..

Happy New Year!

sounds ok to me-what are the payment terms? Also does your rate include a profit? Don't take the risk for wages only.

Thanks for that, payment is all good, we have sub contracted quite a bit of work from these fella's and they always pay at the end of the month, in fact they often chase me for my invoice! This is the biggest job that I have priced for them tho so it is a bit of a concern. Have had a few more days to think tho and I'm fairly happy so have gone with it.

There is a little profit in there to cover a bit of overhead but I will need to start getting out of bed a bit earlier!.... Think I still have my Christmas holiday head on..

Thanks for your advice tho
