First off diy'er so be nice. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Quinetic switches / receivers? I have an outside security light, installed about three years ago, which is switched on and off via a 2 gang Quinetic switch at my back door. The receiver is fed via an FCU from the lighting ring and situated in a wiska box directly above the light. (There doesn't appear to be any water ingress into the box) When i press one of the switches the RCD in my CU trips, none of the individual mcb's. I thought at first it was just a coincidence but it happens every time I press the switch. Been doing it for three days and does it every time I press the switch. I've switched the receiver off via the fcu it's powered by, still does it. I've disconnected the receiver completely (don't shout, by this point I was losing the plot) still does it. The other gang of the switch which is doing a different receiver works perfectly. If i reconnect the circuit and pair it with a different switch it works fine. I've got someone coming to look but in the meantime my question is how can a wireless switch that effectively isn't connected to anything trip an RCD? Am i missing something blatantly obvious??

There is no electrical connection to the switch at all, so issue must be with receiver.

You said no water ingress into the box, but what about the light fitting?

Was the receiver completely disconnected? Input and output? Or just unpaired from the switch?

check your input and output connections are right and there’s no stray flex wires hanging out the terminals.

It may be as simple as moisture got into the receiver… maybe just replace it?

Thanks for the reply. That was my first thought but here's the thing. I completely disconnected the feed to the receiver and light fitting, basically leaving the spur with just an input. No physical connection from the receiver to the supply, still does it. (Just checked again) I was also thinking water at first because it's worked perfectly the last three years, but how can a wireless switch that's not connected to anything trip an RCD? Like I said with everything reconnected and using a different switch it all works perfectly so you would think switch but how??

So the receiver isn’t powered up at all?

It hasn’t somehow got paired with the other receiver, and that’s causing a problem?

Update. I've completely removed both receivers. There is now no Quinetic receivers connected anywhere in the house (see pic). As you can see from the video...still doing it. I swear if I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it. I might have to contact Quinetic direct and see if they can shed any light.

Maybe another receiver somewhere connected to a faulty circuit/light fitting, paired with that switch?

If it does it at a decent distance from the CU then you must have another receiver somewhere.

You could try turning off other circuits to narrow it down, but it may be on the same lighting circuit as the others.

Definitely no other receivers in the house. We've been in from new and I know everything that's been installed since. As soon as I've got some daylight i'm going to try and narrow it down to an individual mcb and go from there. Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll post how I get on.
