RCDs and 16th Edition

Just a quick one...
RCDs on socket outlets - that was in the 16th, wasn't it?

So anything that's been done in harmonised colours should have had RCD fitted at the time, shouldn't it?
I'm thinking 16th was 2001, harmonised colours was 4/2004, no more old colours after 4/2006

16th was 1992 and 2001.

The 16th required RCD protection for socket outlets which were likely to be used to supply equipment being used outdoors. If you like I can dig up my copy of BS 7671:2001 as amended and let you know what it says. I have a copy of the Blue Book which from memory is just the one before the wiring colour changes (Brown Book).

Out of interest though, what relevance does it have what the now defunct 16th Edition required unless you are completing a job designed before the cut-off date for the 17th Edition coming into force?

yes but the OP{M is correct in what he's saying. if the installation was done to 16th,( which it must have been if after 2001 and before 2008) it should have had a split board with RCD protection as stipulated in said 16th

I still don't see the relevance of what was required at the time of installation. If we are assessing safety and compliance with the current edition of BS 7671 then what was or was not required at the time of installation would not seem to be important. So I was wondering if there was some other reason for asking.
