Hi Lads,

I have recntly carried out remedial works on the back of someone else's report which look quite impressive.

A different customer has advised me to show an interest in this work as part of our service but no, ahem nudges in the right direction on what they pay from other contractors.

I know it is important to get the ITC training and invest a few quid in the tool so could anyone give me an idea of charges say for a day survey so I can weigh up the payback?

I figure the service would need a bit of marketing aswell.

Cheers

They can be pricey bit of kit whether you're buying or hiring it. Useful for loose connections and over heating equipment like motors. I used them on overhead lines and transmission equipment. Also to find where underfloor heating pipes or element ran. Its more of a ppm tool than anything else. If you interested in them I would suggest you try afew different makes and models as the clarity between objects of different temperature is not always so easy to pick out. I've used flir and fluke.

It can generate alot of savings but you've got to think big, I heard of a chap that checked out a large factory and identified circuits that were live (and assumed not) - turned out they were powering some heaters 24x7. He said he ended up saving the factory £10K a MONTH on their energy bill.
