Is this acceptable or bad practice, have read loads of posts and seems to be a bone of contention, say for two 4mm radial circuits protected by a 32amp RCD?

can't see a problem. by being connected to the same MCB, the 2 radials become 1 circuit.
 
I guess inconvenience where a fault on one of the radials would cause both to trip but if the installation method of both radials means they're each capable of carrying 32A it can be done.
 
As above nothing wrong with it other than inconvenience of both sets of sockets triping at the same time.
