Discuss What should someone do if they see their electrical socket sparking when inserting a power plug? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

if the socket is switched on when plugging in an appliance, there may be a small spark. usually nothing wrong. best practice is to make sure the socket switch is in the off position when plugging something in, and also, when unplugging. even then you may get a spark from the switch if it's a high load appliance. if in doubt, get a local electrician in to advise.

As Tel but may be worth getting someone competent to check the condition and connections in the plug and socket .......with the power safely switched off.
