Discuss boiler cross bonding in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Nah! ...... It was the Ironing Maidens and the song was "I got them old washday blues". ;)

Anybody remember Dolly Blue - or Blue Bags what the wifeys used to chuck in with the washing to make it whiter?
Aye I do,also OMO washing powder, one of my ex's said where she lived the women who were playing away used it as a sign to let the other bloke know the coast was clear. A box left on the kitchen window meant "Old Man Out" bet the makers never saw that use coming did they?

Sorry to but in on the fun but just wondering how much do you think it would actually cost in time and materials to put a few sup bonds on an average re-wire. just asking nowt else no funny business ;)

Ill be departing for a while girl and boys... since reading this thread Ive realised Ive not bonded all the plastic incoming services thus I have to lose my B/Holiday to go around all my jobs and correct them....

PS Thanks Mr DNO your a pearl of wisdom and glad your mate wrote the book!...I mean what do the collective knowledge of a forum of experienced Electricians mean nowadays when your buddies with Mr Cockburn the most deluded guy that has ever posted a thread on this forum! TTFN

On a serious note:
A lot of boiler installation manuals still mark it as a requirement for the pipework to be cross bonded, and are we not supposed to obey the manufacturer above all else? (along with 3A fuses on extract fan circuits).

Bugger, just realised I have put anyone who visits my house at danger by not having the facility to bond their jewellery, car keys or fillings That's tomorrow sorted then making up a load of 10mm leads with crocodile clips on them.

British Grasp seem to be very keen on having geen/yellow festooned all over the shop and what he hell do they know about anything?

I had to laugh at a new boiler I wired the other day.
A Worcester boiler, with all the brass pipe connections bolted to a steel bar with a bog-roll thin copper strip linking them all together.

I have to bond my neighbours C/H pipes, I know the size is 10mmsq, but i cant remember the colour/s is it-Brown+yellow, Green+yellow or Pink+yellow you sound like an intelligent guy, so perhaps you have the answer!

White will blend in well with the plastic pipes.

Its not required in the electrical regs , its one thing that was done because it looks pretty , even to 16th edition , but supplementary bonding was required as has been said in special locations also if you look at the main bonding for a gas pipe under plumbers regs they say it should be within a metre of the gas meter again not an electrical reg, as with alot of manufacturers they add requirements with out consulting the regs , look how many bathroom lights still have zone 3 on them and on instructions tell you to put the loops of a lighting circuit into a terminal block and wrap it in tape now im sure thats one thing we wouldnt do

There! That one over there!

Yes ..... Quite thank you. :)

The fact is that all the pipe work is bonded by means of the tap rail which it's fixed to so whether we like it or not it is already bonded by default - a fact that the idiots at British Grasp and others seem unable to understand.

One of these is spelled incorrectly. Do you know which one - and what the correct spelling should be boys & girls?? :)
