I did find the answer pretty much to this in an old thread & was answered by Chris...
But wonder if I could get a few more suggestions as to being correct.
Installed a Main Water Bond from a DB Board to the Main Incoming water supply which was (in my opinion) well over 25m away. We ran it along...
Hi all , Is there a maximum length for domestic meter tails ? I have a friend who wants to move his consumer unit to a different position without the expense of paying for the meter to be moved.
Just wondered if the c.s.a. of the meter tails is spec'd correctley and protected is there a...
Ok. I've been trying to get my head round this all day but I'm getting nowhere.
On page 45 of the OSG (Table 7.1) it says the maximum length of a lighting circuit wired in 1.5/1.0 cable on a 6 amp Type B MCB is 90 meters.
However, working out the voltage drop for this length of cable I'm...
hi what length off flex can you add to an appliance ie washing machine, tumbel dryre, i cant find any thing in the reg just had a quick look .
i was on a job to day and some one had 2 m added on to a washing machine so the flex was about 3 m long
personaly i would have fitted a socket...
Looked in the onsite guide today as we thought we may be close to the limit of a ringmain circuit length, the guide gives out a maximum length of just over a hundred mtrs for a 2-5 / 2-5 / 1-5 ring main. Now as we are looking at a trunking system which is to be wired in singles but all at 2-5mm...
Hi
Can anyone confirm what the maximum length is for consumer unit tails?
I wasn't aware that there was any set maximum - but I have heard elsewhere that there is a maximum of 3 metres ???
Is this the case, and can anyone tell me where to read up on it.
Is it actually in the regs...

Scenario:
A mains head is in one end of a house, split phase. Second phase allowed on the basis of a second semi-separate dwelling to be built adjoining the existing house approximately 30 metres away frm the head.
Would it be permissiible to run the meter tails from the exisiting mains head...
Got to do a board change 7 ways currently, but existing cables have been left short as earths on new unit on right hand side instead of left! what is the best/ legitimate way of extending them? main earth & bonding will also need extending!

Recently, I've spotted this in a customers garage...
The main consumer unit in one corner of the garage and a garage consumer unit in the other.
The tails have been split with a henley block beneath the main CU and 25mm tails run up into the garage loft space, run over the beams unclipped, and...
Can anybody please simplify some calculations for me please i have a 100A PME supply that is supplying a house roughly 100-150 metres away. it is run in 50mm 4 core SWA three phase and neutral they have run a ten mm cpc seperate alongside it, No continuity from the armourings as they have...
Sorry to bring up an old post but im confused.
I have carried out tests on a kitchen ring final wired in 2.5mm/1.5mm T&E, results as follows:
r1=0.36 rn=0.34 r2=0.59
I then joined leg 1 of line conductor to leg 2 of cpc and leg 2 of line conductor to leg 1 of cpc and measured the R1+R2 at...

Just phoned Yedl today about meter tails length [like trying to get blood out of a stone] they would not give me a figure. I know as a rule of thumb it is 3m but just doing a install where the closest I can locate the CU so it is accesible is 2.4m away.Once I have run the cable under the flloor...
How do l calculate the maximum cable length for a maximum Zs value?
Isn't there also correctional factors to be applied for ambient temperature?
Can someone tell me the maximum length of mains tails please, I think its either 2 metres if cut-out indoors or 3 metres if cut-out outdoors, then to extend the supply further you will need a switched fuse(kmf800), also, will from the kmf need rcd protection ? cheers for any help.
I found this question in "practical giude to inspection, testing and certification" book
A lighting circuit is to be wired in l mm2 twin and earth thermoplastic cable, the circuit is protected by a 5 A BS 3036 fuse. What would be the maximum length of cable permissible to comply with the earth...
How do we calculate voltage drop on a ring final sockets only, Given the length of the circuit is 40 meters the cable is 2.5mm so therefore the amp per meter is 18, the mcb is 32 so is it 40 x 18 x 32 / 1000 = 23.04 but thats more than 5% = 11.5. Do we not use the mcb for socket outlets as we...

Hi all,
How do I work out the length of a circuit?
I have these figures
R1+R2 = 0.40
The circuit is wired in 2.5mm/1.5mm T&E
I take it I need to know the resistance of the T&E (where do I find this?)
Could someone give me the formula or point me in the right direction
Thank you.
hi thier i want to make my own blue 12v led strip like this
i want to be able to use it in my car and on the strip i would like about 36 led's i had a look on ebay for the leds and i have come across these PACK OF 50 ULTRA-BRIGHT 3mm BLUE LEDs 5000 MCD on eBay, also LEDs, Components Supplies...
Hi All,
i'm sure this has been discussed before, but what would you suggest the longest length of meter tails should be.
I know I should ask the distributor, but I am looking for a general view.
Thanks in advance
