Hey guys,
I need to replace some barge boards on the front of a house, these boards have a fitting for the houses mains electric attached to them.
How would I need to go about removing this fixing so that I can replace the barge boards?
Can the power company temporarily shut off the power?
Got one that's not very happy - claims to be full when it isn't - and a quick look suggests the pack will pop open and can probably replace whatever the cells are straight off the RS shelf.
Anyone tried this before?
[have posted this here and not tools as it's equally an electrics issue!]

The existing...

Hi,
I've recently moved into a 1970s built house with stud partition dividing walls. The electrical fixtures and fittings are quite dated, so I've decided to replace all the sockets and switches and also to convert single sockets into doubles whilst I'm doing it.
Unfortunately when I came to...

Our house has a TN-S system and the consumer unit has only a main switch and mcbs. There are no RCDs on any circuits apart from a single socket in the conservatory.
Reading up (for a coming exam) I see in the On-Site Guide 3.6.1 that RCDs are required for (amongst other locations):
ii. socket...
We are trying to replace two "blown" capacitors on a seven-year-old computer video card.
The capacitors appear identical and state, amongst other things, 6.3V/1500uF.
When we use that information the RS Components website, there are 24 results.
Can you help us find the correct one?
P.S. I...
