Good evening,
I am new to the forum, and I am after some advice

I am looking at buying my son a new oven, but have just noticed that the one I intended buying is a 16 amp oven.
I believe his current oven is a hardwired 13 amp version with its own fuse on the fuse board.
I am thinking of buying it from Currys and having them install it. However I don't want to cause more issues when they turn up
What do I need to do to change it to a 16 amp, or am I better off just looking for a 13 amp oven?
Any assistance would be appreciated

If the current oven is hard wired, rather than plugged into a 13A socket, then a 16A oven will probably be fine. It's possible, but unlikely that the extra three amps will take the supply cable over its rated maximum current after applying derating factors, so that just leaves the 'fuse' on the fuse board.
What are we looking at here? Literally an old fashioned fuse or an MCB? I've never seen a 13A fusebox fuse or MCB. Some older ones were 15A, but 16A is the 'standard' rating these days.

Thank you. He has had an update on his fuseboard. I will see if he can send me a picture later
