got my 2395 practical and written exam tomorrow , anyone any pointers on the written exam what points to concentrate on studying wise

practical should be OK

In the same boat mate, apart from I've already done my practical. Practical is fairly straight forward if your familiar with testing. Common ones I've encountered for the written are;

draw and label fault paths for earthing systems

ring testing (all 3 steps), and mention safe isol if it doesn't state it's been done in the qu

IR testing procedure, ensuring pre checks are mentioned, ie, protective conductor connected to MET, voltage sensitive equipment removed, pilot lamps disconnected ect

How to carry out earth electrode tests.

Yes I believe so. Think it's 6 qus, all having 15 marks each, so that 90 marks in total. It's like section B of the 2391 papers, but obviously all about existing installations (periodics).

Oh.... Also, the bit about safe isol mentioned when ring testing also applies for IR and earth electrode testing!

dont forget to label `general mass of earth` on a TT

dont forget to put in bold words at the top of the page `this is a dead test`

and `first ask permission` from the person ordering the work

polarity live first then PFC.. and that its the highest of the 2 on single phase

my faults on the practical were:

1) high resistance on main bonding

2) low insulation resistance on lighting circuit on DB2
