Hi what cutters do you guys use, i used normal sidies for a few years then a mate recommened crops or shears you know the ck ones with red handles look old skool but they provide a better cut and find it easy to strip and terminate cable with, silverline are the only company i know that do a vde pair but think they have stopped doing them. anyone know who else does vde crops. nice one

hey, i use the ck side cutters with the holes on the blade to enable you to strip cables, handy when your terminating alot of cables in one go.

quick google came up with these [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Knipex-59689-200Millimeters-Fully-Insulated/dp/B0002GUOHG/ref=sr_1_6/280-1222558-7076220?ie=UTF8&s=garden&qid=1272885913&sr=8-6]Knipex 59689 200Millimeters Fully Insulated Cable Shear: Amazon.co.uk: Garden & Outdoors[/ame]
probs get em cheaper elsewhere
i use knipex 200 side cutters personally but these are a dam fine tool

Ck Combi cutters 3. They're fantastic. They've got a 3.5 screw cutter, 1.5 and 2.5mm strippers and wire formers

Tin, are those proper then? Have been looking at the ones with the little holes for stripping for ages but keep thinking 'gimmick'. If they're that good I'll gettem though. Are they good and quick?

i think my cutters are great, it can strip 1.5 and 2.5 in a blink of the eye. I do alot of terminating of cables, so all i need are the cutters and a terminal :D

Sound. This month's shopping list has started early...... may be going to the flippin' ballet after all, after Exeter's recent wallet-drainer!

Never really saw the point in those cutters with the stripping holes in them. It's bad enough when you have a slight nick in them and you go to cut some flex and you have to reapeatedly have to cut down to get through. I end up buying a new pair as soon as I notice they aren't cutting first time everytime, that's not even from blowing a hole in them, it's just when they wear down.

I wouldnt recommend those type.
I have this set here:
NWS VDE 6-in-1 Cutter - Screwfix.com, Where the Trade Buys
Not very good as the cutting part is at the end of the blade, so if you need to cut T&E, you have to 'line' it up with the blade.

I also have these Klein Kurve and they are much better, as the cutting area is at the bottom of the blade, so you simply slide your cable in and snip it off.
Flint Hire & Supply Ltd Wire Strippers

To be honest though, I just use my sidecutters to strip wire now, and those tools do not get used.

CK croppers I use, got knipex side cutters but they rarely make it out of the toolbag these days

Gotta be Knipex use these:
