To do a R1+R2 test you connect the Line and Cpc together and test at the furthest point.

But on the test sheet I have there is also a box for just an R2 test aswell, how do you correctly do just an R2 test?
 
the R2 column is there because sometimes it may be impracticable to measure R1+R2 due perhaps to reasons of safety.

A small point, but you take a reading at all outlets and record the highest (which should be at the extremity of the circuit).

i thought the R2 test was for old circuits that dont have cpc's in them??? finding a few old lighting circuits with no earths in them here in cornwall lol

I don't understand what you're saying here. R2 is the resistance of the CPC. How can you do an "R2 test" if there's no CPC?

Or are you just having a laugh?
