Hi all.. I have recently purchased a cooker and thought straight swap surely as cooker switch was above counter and the connection unit was behind the oven. Upon opening the connection unit I noticed someone has wired it using 3 6mm cpc singles. I then opened the cooker switch and it was fed with the same. It seems they have extended the cooker circuit. After removing a considerate amount of tiles I found where it was extended. The flat is wired in old 16mm conduit and singles. But the end box where they done the connections is about 500mm above the gas hob. Any ideas how I could rectify this. Getting the old stop end box of could be a nightmare as would rewiring the whole circuit. If I get a suitable way of connecting new 6mm cable to this point will a blank plate over the gas hob do the job?
Thanks in advance. I'm not quite sure how to upload a picture

Sensibly you should extend the conduit run to the correct point using an imperial to metric adaptor.
Alternatively you can run the continuing circuit in standard 6mm² H07RNF flex or twin and earth so long as you can also continue the earthing if this is provided by the conduit.
If the connection box has been there for a long time without problems then it should continue to do so, however it is not ideal and if you have the chance to change this then take it.
