Hi all....

Was talking to my mate last not and he is doing a job this week were he is removing an existing supply witch feeds 3x single phase consumer units....

Well the supply is being moved by DNO. He said he is going to install 3x switch fuses..

I said why not install a consumer unit with 3x MCB rated accordingly. Eg..

He said no that's not to correct way of doing things. Wat do you all think. Surly the way I suggest was neater and carries greater protection?

It will be very hard to achieve the correct discrimination with MCBs.
Much better to use fuses for distribution circuits that MCBs.

Plus 3 seperate switchfuses makes for easier isolation and lock off in the future.

Assuming these submains are larger cables then it is easier to terminate in seperate switchfuses than a little CU with restricted space.

adaptable box, din rail and din rail mounted tp bs88 fuse holder, you could have seperate isolators/main switches as well if you wanted

simple

No mention of the means of single point isolation after the service cut-out then??

needsa TP+N isolator. I'm doing a simlar job in new year. isolator followed by 3 separate sw/f 's then the 3 CUs.

my bad. misread OP as splitting 3 phases across 3 1P dis boards.
