Been asked to change 8 downlighters in a kitchen to 8 mini-pendants. I've never installed downlighters before so would be grateful for a bit of advice. They are all operated off the same switch and I can only have access from the ceiling as the customer does not want me to lift floorboards above. But, they are having the ceiling re-plastered so no problem with cutting a few holes in the ceiling to access junction boxes etc if necessary. So, just a straightforward job to change downlighter fittings to pendant fittings then or is there anything quirky I should lookout for?

apart from them it should be straight forward as long as the wires have not been damaged by being too close to the down lighters, i have had plenty of those in the past

Is the JB currently accessible though one of the downlight holes? If so it will no longer be accessible once the ceiling is replastered, so you should make sure you replace it with a maintenance-free type, such as the Ashley boxes, or Wago.
