Downlights + loft braces

Hi All,

I am currently doing a large rewire, and one of the issues that has cropped up is downlights in the flat roof loft conversion.

Good practice states that a loft brace should be used to allow good air circulation above and around the down light, and to allow thermal bridging by laying insulation above the downlight.

They are using kingspan/insulation boards on the flat part of the dormers. How would you guys get round not having to cut out large parts of the insulation board to allow the down lights to be fitted.

Can normal insulation be fitted in place of the kingspan?

Change the kingspan for the equivalent in foil insulation. I do'nt think building control will like you cuting the kingspan.
