And here’s me thinking we had a NATIONAL grid… not an international one.

No wonder they're bringing in timing on domestic EV chargers

Must be panic

It's alright they've sent someone down to B&Q for some new cable,
"Some of this please mate"

I made reference to this in another thread the other day. The nearest French nuclear station to me is the one near Cherbourg, and we take the equivalent of most of it's output.

they could always use the broken live kV end of the cable to push the illegals' boats back.

But read beyond the usual dramatic headlines and you see that only 7.5% of the UKs electricity comes from France, and the National Grid say they are confident they have enough in reserve for the winter.

Not saying we won't have any problems, but it's rare that things are as bad as the sensational headlines suggest.

We made enquiries about tapping into it for renewables a few years ago. The rough quote was £1.25million.

I take it that was a No then??

Never went any further. It was part of a scheme for about 50 acres of solar panels, the rental income from which would have meant I never would have had to do a stroke of work again.
The firms that run these schemes plan several applications at the same time, and only go ahead with the one that presents the least problems/profit ratio, and we lost out.

Others are saying this puts a serious squeeze on the UK's capacity to cover winter demand:

Pretty much the same story. Confirms the 7.5% import and that the grid think they will be ok.
