Have any of you on the forum considered doing some group buys with suppliers / manufacturers before now?
So just to quickly explain how they work for those that don't know.
You'd ask a supplier or manufacturer to supply X amount of a certain product at a really good price, and only when said amount of people agree to buy at that price does the transaction take place and the goods get sent.
So it's a way to perhaps get a decent branded product that you regularly use for a really good price. As it means the supplier can perhaps speak to the manufacturer of it and get a better price themselves.
Ends up being win:win:win - the manufacturer ends up selling a shed load more than usual that month, the supplier ends up with a bit of cash for just taking delivery of a pallet and shipping them out individually on a single day, and you guys get to buy something with a good % off.
Obviously there needs to be some decent discussion and all parties to be on the same wavelength pricewise. Because it has been know to not be a good deal on some of the group buying websites that dedicate their whole business model to this sort of stuff.
But obviously if you guys already know what you buy your regular products or tools for, then you know it's not going to work unless the price is much better. And the suppliers will know when it's going too far and nobody their end is making cash meaning it's not worth it, and obviously the manufacturers know when to say no that's not worth it too.
So using a bit of buying power, and the collective knowledge of the forum, you should find have a right good chat about this should come up with some products, the prices it'd work at, and how many would need to be sold for it to be that price.
Anybody considered this? Has this come up before? Would it be something you'd like to see happen? Does anybody fancy contacting their suppliers to see what they think about it?
