Just popping in to say hi and hope I can pick some brains for a few answers to save me time and money in updating my qualifications to get a job.
I applied to join the RAF as an Aircraft Electrician back in 1996, at the time the RAF was undergoing some changes to the way they trained aircraft leckies, so I was told they would contact when the trade was re-opened. So I became an apprentice electrician at Alpha Electrical, Norwich. I was mainly working on building sites doing 1st and 2nd fixes, with the odd industrial job thrown in and one shop fit in the Castle Mall just for good measure. I managed to gain C&G 2360 parts 1 and 2, 2350 and AM1. The RAF finally got back to me in 2000 and I stepped off the train at Wendover train station on 17th July 2000 to start my new career in the RAF. After 7 weeks basic training at RAF Halton, I was transferred to RAF Cosford to begin 14 months of trade training and completing part of my C&G 3772-10. I was posted to 33 Sqn at RAF Benson where I spent 7 wonderful years working on the Puma helicopter and deployed to Iraq, Bosnia and Norway and completed my C&G 3772-10. I got promoted to corporal and was posted to RAF Waddington where I was employed on radar emitter analysis (a crappy desk job). I submitted my voluntary early release and moved to work with the building manager, humping and dumping furniture, repairing broken furniture, replacing fluorescent tubes and escorting contractors in the building. I currently have 6 weeks left in the RAF and I'm finally getting around to updating my electrical qualifications and find a job in Lincolnshire.
I have been told that I only need to get 2382-12, is this true?
Next on my list is Part P, and 2391.
Then, PAT, Photovoltaic, and maybe look at HVAC too.
Thanks for reading
