Hi All

Me and the plumber have been having some issues over the last couple of days, meant to be simple job of moving and installing new boiler/ moving programmer and wiring centre.

Y-Plan (existing pipework/ now new electrics)
Megaflow (existing)
External pump (existing)
Valliant Eco tech plus heat only (newly installed)

Firstly had to rewire it all as right balls up who ever previously put it in.

Now plumbers just phoned me up having issues with the pump getting up to certain temperature then cutting out, so rads are not getting fully up to temperature.

The zone valves and electrics are all doing what the should it's just the pump thats the puzzler now?

Any thoughts please? Hopefully a plumbing issue

Cheers Sy

Hoping its something like that Tel.....

Had enough central heating stress this past week, 3 different jobs with faults!

I'm fine installing it and diagnosing problems on what I've put in, but trying figure out some others peoples mess and 20 year + old systems is another job in its self.

I would assume the pump is controlled by the new boiler as most boilers now require pump overrun?

Would be worth looking at the boiler control board if this is the case. Can you make it play up when you are on site?

Thats right pump is controlled by boiler..... back on Monday. Left it with plumber to sort for now

The pump is - as we in the trade say; Donald Ducked or the system is choked with sludge.

Either way, it's a plumbing issue and plumber should start with a drain down & flush. After that, it's replace the pump time.

The question for me is why the hell has the "plumber" not realised this?

come on, geordie. he's a plumber. he can't fix it with a hammer, so assumes it's an electrical problem. and did you raely mean the system is sludged, or the plumber's head?

Good sounds like I can sleep well tonight..... :sifone:
Thanks for all your reassurance

plumbers tend to fix faults by replacing bits 1 at a time till they find what cures the problem. give the guy a head start. tell him to take the P.U.M.P. off, flush any sludge out. oops. that's all for now, you'll get him confused.

Geordie, you and I know that if there is a book of mistakes we are on the second reading.
I feel sorry for the lads still in the first chapter!
