I need to do some work on the consumer unit and I'm not working live, so the main fuse is coming out (no discussion on this please!:smile::smile:)

Does anyone know if these meters just restart and run as normal on power up or do they need a special key or the like?

Cheers

Just to add to Spin's advice. Most Key-meter types have a back-up battery (nicad, nimh or lithium) to keep the data live when the supply is temporarily removed. As long as the supply is not cut for an extended period (weeks) it will resume data intact at power-up.

or you could run the shower and cooker till the credit runs out. LOL.

Do these ones have the time delay between re-energising the supply and closing their internal contactor like some of the older credit meters? Confused the hell out of me the first time I encountered it...
I used the phone-a-friend option. He told me they were made like that to reduce the inrush after re-energisation when there had been a DNO side problem
