Hi DKM,
welcome to the forum,
I'm now based just outside Manchester, however 10 years ago when I was in London, you could fine jobs in the evening standard on a Wednesday (building and construction section) or Thursday (engineering section) of the classified ads.

I would look for work as an electricians mate or electrical labourer if I were you.

Out of curiosity what course are you doing?

As far as I'm aware there is no such thing as a course to become a fully qualified electrician, because the qualification includes practical experience to pass practical exams as well as theory City and Guilds

Richard

Hi Richard

Thanks for that, i'll check out the standard tomorrow

Regarding the course, i'm doing Level 2 & 3 Certificate in Electrotechnial Technology (2330), which includes around 30 practical and theory sessions.

doing level 2 and 3 2330 wont make you "fully qualified"

once those two are completed youll still have to do the NVQ level 3 which is 18 months - 2 years on the job training.

at least you're doing the right course/s, not the mickey mouse " become an electrician in a month" scams.

Hi DKM,
I know the work scene has changed in London,
You will also need a CSCS health and safety card to get access building sites

For future reference it'll be better if you can get work with electrical firms, but you'll probably get work with agencies

Once again good luck

Richard
