Hi all, I would like to ask some help please. I have passed recently my PAT testing course and in the future I would like to work in it to earn some little extra.
At home and friends I practice when I can but one of the item I could not test it.

I have a seaward primetest 100 tester. The Item what I could not test is a vacuum cleaner (Tesco 1600W VCMOP10 1400W nominal). When I plug in the hoover in to the machine says "load" this mean to turn it on the hover. I done it but nothing happens. On other items (toster, kettle) automaticly continues the test and the items pass.

Anyone has any advise what went wrong?

Thank you

Normally just pressing OK (test, continue...or the equivalent), where you have an item with an electronic on off switch, causes the tester to perform the test as normal, obviously you are not checking the internal circuitry but there is no sensible way to do that.

If the tester did not continue (where it has done so for other items) then I would be tempted to try again and ensure you have the correct settings for the item in question.

Hi Richard and thank you for the reply.

Yes I done it and after it passed with both on/off position. Just did not understand....On every other item when when the tester showed "load" I switched on and the tester continued the test automaticly. But only on this vacuum did not continue...but it works fine under load...

The vacuum double insulated and I pushed the right button on tester with the double insulation sign on it.

If a piece of equipment does not physically turn on with the switch, i.e the switch only enables an electronic system that would then operate the equipment, then, because it is not powered, it will not actually be on so the tester will still tell you "load".
or possibly you did not push the switch far enough!
