What do you lads think to having a photography section on the forum.
The reason I ask is I like to do a bit of photography in my spare time, now I'm no Ansel Adams but I do enjoy it.
Also yesterday I ordered a second Camera body so will be giving it some hammer over the next couple of months.

Also The other thing I thought about was we are all always posting up pics of our work so maybe it could take off.
If there was enough interest then I will speak to Admin and see what can be done.
One for you all to have a think about.

and me. what body have you bought, glenn? tony's an expert photographer. he might be interested in a photography section.

Thanks Besoeker , I think it would be a good addition to the forum, where everyone could share their images and what kit they have an that could be anything from a point and shoot to a professional Dslr.
I hope a few more members get behind it.

Hi Tel I was banking on you mate cheers, I have just bought the canon 70d I was so close to buying the 7d but after doing some research There was very little difference in Price and spec.
The thing that pushed me towards the 70D was the fact that the 7D is about 4-5 years old now.
And I didn't realise Tony was into Photography I hope he gets behind it.

Cheers uk Another one on the list!!
I just hope Members realise It Can be has serious or relaxed has they want to make it.

Well I also have the 1100D which is only a level entry but has served me ok for a few years now but that was also a bind with the small screen, but the 70D has got a 3" touch screen so should be a great asset.

iv'e still got my 3 eos film bodies. along with a AE1, 4 zenit bodies, an ensign 3½ x 2½, a fuji instant, and some other old tat.

here's one i took of the baby the other day.

HA HA Mike I can only see its back legs at the moment .
@ Mike That's why I thought the photography section may just create a place where members can chill out a bit, I am already a member of a couple of photography forums but don't get a lot of time to visit them. So it would make it ideal to have one here.

You can get some Aquarium photos up as well Mike.

yeah would be fun, I take a few photos myself and there is no-where to put them here, plus some members get angry easily and have no sence of humour, a off topic forum may bring them out out the anger stage to a relaxed state of mind, at the moment we only have the political forum and sports forum really, I suppose chit chat is good but it is for junk threads only really, yep a photograpy forum would be a good idea, we can see a smaller picture of Tels rabbit as well

dunno what's wrong. it's a full pic on my lappy, about 7" x 5".

female. 17 weeks old. little sod. something with the oic. if i set as desktop background, i only get half the pic. like it's zoomed in. is that what you're getting, just a pic of her belly?

She is absolutely gorgeous mate there is now a smaller pic to view, but the other must just be a big photo, i have had it before it should resize itself in time

Cant see a problem setting up a Photography section in the Lifestyle Forum seen as it already has a good backing. I'll bring it up in the staff room.

Cheers Paul I have sent you a pm about it and I will leave it with you.

I know Tel trouble is I haven't got a 400mm lens 300mm is the biggest I've got, to be honest I am not huge on Landscapes I'm more into things that move, but the Brother in law likes it so we are doing that 1st.
I am fancying 500mm or some L glass but may need to earn a bit more money 1st.

Another vote for the photography section.

I've been using SLR's since mid 70's, still got a case full of 35mm Pentax bodies/lenses in the loft that's probably worth zero these days. One thing I can't get on with is holding a camera in front of me and framing using a screen, so all my camera's have "proper" viewfinders .

Nice thing about digital is you just keep shooting and pick the best compared with paying to have rolls of film developed & printed.

2 and 3 are class. where's the frozen cave? oops, just seen it' kinder.

what i call shotgun photography. fire 50, one's got to be a hit.

Great idea, I've made a note in the staffroom for Dan to make a new sub-forum.

Photos would need to be low-res if you're going to attach them because of the filesize limit. I doubt the limit can be made larger because it will have a negative effect on the speed of server and it also makes for very slow page load times if the thread has lots of large images on it. It would be best to host the images on a filehosting site then hotlink them in the threads.

Good man, I gave you a thanks for that

Thanks Marvo you got a thank off me as well, I hope we can get it up and running soon.

best way i've found to upload images is to get it in photoshop, then save as jpg and when you get the option save as low res . to destop, then upload.

Our Lass has just come back with a new camera bag for me. I would take a photo of it but my camera is now dismantled along with the lenses inside the bag!!

I use PhotoBucket. The advertising is a pain but you can’t complain when it’s free. It doesn’t matter if the picture is a bit on the large side, the forum will show it as best fit.

As Marvo has said, you’re not cluttering up the server. An added advantage is you can remove your work when you can’t log on to the forum.

That's the beauty of digital cameras.

Thankfully, long gone are the days of taking your roll of film down the chemist and praying you'd get some decent pictures back! :)
Looks a popular idea this,so might get some help off me old man...he was a professional press photographer all his working life, last 40 odd years of his career, with Manchester Evening News. He went all over the world, and,as a kid,i followed him on some jobs. He started when it was own developing,hand-copy and hot lead, went through the digital, wireless transition. He is 78 now,but still has most of his old kit,Nikon,Minolta,Haselblad,Rollei etc,but only uses a small digital job now. So,the photography section may provide a good place to post the 20,000 pictures that he took of me growing up,in 1 minute intervals!... :stooge_curly:

So are you up for the idea Tony I have heard you're pretty nifty with a camera!!

I spent ten years as a publisher and professional photographer. I can’t remember the last time I took a camera out. Once digital took the skill out of it I lost all interest.

You’re not seeing my older stuff otherwise I’ll be on a permanent holiday from here.

It will be interesting to see some of the lads work though.
