Hi folks, Just wondered if anyone is a regular user of Sangamo timers. I need to replace one, only because the cable cover on the bottom is missing, exposing non sheathed cables. Having looked at the prices £100 + depending on model, I'm wondering if they are worth the money or if a cheaper timer will do.

The timer controls a couple of outside/signage lights on a small shop.

Thanks for reading.

They are good timers, most local authorities use them, so they are tried and tested.
i would say that if they were not worth the money, local authorities wouldn't use them, but some local authorities are good at wasting money
whether they are worth the money is a personal choice, you get what you pay for

They are tried and tested as Kevin mentioned, a good switching capacity and rarely go wrong, good for switching loads, well within reason of course, approx a hundred for a sundial so not so expensive really IMO.

Sangamo timers have been the timers of choice even before i came into the industry. They are tried and tested and have stood the test of time. So if you want or need the best, then it's Sangamo every time.

agreed ^^^
i wouldnt replace a £100 timer that was otherwise working perfectly cos a 2 inch cover is missing
i'd bodge it with pvc mini trunking over the terminals.
customers love cheap fixes , every penny saved helps at this expensive time of year

Good man, up there for thinking, down there for dancing.

Doesn't the screw for the cover hold the clock mechanism in place? I've had people nick them before when they are not screwed in.

Yup, so if the cover is missing then you need to replace the 4mm screw otherwise the mech can be withdrawn while in use/ on load etc. and yes they are worth their price tag as the come under the "fit and forget" banner.

Just had a look, sangamo do the replacement covers £4.50........bargin!
