Hi
There are seagulls all round my neck of the woods and they are chavs with wings - O for a silenced shotgun  . . . but no-one cant shoot seagulls of course . How do you deal with the crepe they leave and does anyone have any experience with solar modules and these irritants ?

to be fair those seagulls have as much right as us to be there,i live on the coast and while they can be a pain,id rather shoot the chavs that cause trouble and fights..

Apologies been hanging around custody suites too long (installing I might add)

Nasty stuff crepes.
Try putting bacon and cheese on 'em. A lot to answer for these crepe makers, wots wrong with bread and butter, bloody europeans.

The DIY method:
Mustard sandwiches work well, makes the blighters wary of looking for food at that location again.
The more conventional methods used with success round here are:
1) Dummy Eagle Owl perched on the roof.
2) The MOD use a recording of the seagull distress call, high volume at random intervals to scare the seagull away from airfields.

I've seen wire and spikes used to prevent pigeons, surely a suitable placed wire or spikes would prevent the gulls from perching on the top of the panels, I take it that that is the problem?

IAEFGI (If all else fails Google It) type in Seagull Deterent and you have loads of options to choose from, spikes, spiders (watch out for shadowing), Ultrasonics and Head Spinning owls. Our local landfill site used a local falconer and now the gulls have abandoned the whole area!

i fly a rag 'n tube microlight and when the birds that were living in our hanger sha* on the cloth wing it all but burns a whole in it. we fitted a "silent" bird scarer and the whole lot of 'em have moved house / hanger since so I can vouch that the electronic bird scarers definately

... work - i got ours from a company called Martindales for around £150 and it is keeping the entire hanger (big enough for 6 flying contraptions) clear of any birds.
