Hi, welcome to the forum. The short answer to question is NO! Nobody can learn in 8 weeks what a time served apprentice electrician learns in 4 or 5 working years.

Can you really become an electrician with only eight weeks training?
welcome to the forum,
an answer to your question would be, no you would not be an electrician in 8 weeks but you would be working towards being one :) knowledge and experience go towards building competence and thats what you need to be an electrician. don`t let it put you off if thats what you want to do and feel free to ask for advice or anything you need to know on here :D

Could not agree more, should the people offering these courses be allowed to continue as I not not believe anyone with these "qualifications" could be competent

Hi Phil,

I have been a timed servered electrician for forty years, my worry is the danger caused by people who think they are qualified after 8 weeks training.

think after 8 weeks, should be competent to change a plug as well.
