What work can I carry out in Edinburgh

Hi there, looking for info on what work I can carry out working for myself... I have worked for company's but I'm thinking of going alone as a builder I do odd jobs for wants me to start up as he is looking for a spark he knows/trusts... Problem is I'm not approved and select says I can't join them because I'm not approved which I think means I can't do jobs which need signed off for building warrant, I stay in Edinburgh...

Why can't you just go through building control and pay their fee?

taking your clothes off in the pubic triangle or a masseuse in a sauna are just two fine examples that spring to mind.
look up edinburgh City councils building control website.
that should give you what they are looking for.
the by enquiry method is possible. There is a few threads on here about it.

Phone your local building control and speak to them. I find they are more helpful as they get to know you and your standard of work.
