What about the 1/4 bottle of Jamesons?
Shinny Shinny that's what my mates said when I had the toll catalogue out on me desk

Quality pull switch or cheap one, they are not as easy to replace as many think with 6 or 10mm cables. If the OP has changed a number of switches I'd suggest the terminations are loose/poor. I've seen plenty of cheap'uns go on for years if connected by someone who knows what they are doing.

don't know why people insist on using the pull cord to turn an electric shower on/off,when the shower has a perfectly good (and more functional) on/off switch itself

main reason is that the on/off switch on the shower can only be reached when you are standing in the shower. then you get a deluge of freezing cold water on your head till the pathetic over rated kettle element in the shower manages to warm the water up.

32a breaker however so no problem ther3

With the OPs Scenario I'd limit the shower rating to 8.5kW max, especially if there are kids about who don't know the meaning of a quick shower.

It is a problem as a protective device is not to be used as a current-limiting device. It is incorrectly selected for the load.

Had a colleague once who had the shower at home on a B20 to stop the kids being in there too long ! :)

Same bloke was on Economy 7 and he and his missus would fill 2 flasks very early each morning using the cheap rate then use the flasks all day for tea making, true I swear ! :)

Northern softy, thought you lot were made of sterner stuff ;)

I agree with Midwest, its an isolator not a light switch
3 pull cords in a year seems to be the penalty your paying for using the shower isolator like a light switch

Get a 50 amp Crabtree pull cord, leave the thing in the on position,it may even outlive the shower unit and it will also be immune to being used by Scousers

Sorry, got myself confused trying to give as much information.
My question is:
Do the values seem ok for the cable size?
No, you have 9.5kw shower which is 41.3A total load
you need minumum 10mm twin and earth cable
5oA pull cord shower switch
45A MCB
rather safe than sorry

BOLLOX. 9.5kW = 39.6A . 6mm clipped direct on a 40A or 45A MCB.

in actuality, we don't have an indoor shower. ours is a hosepipe and a colander in the back yard.
