DPC BS:7671/AMD 1 - The IET

A lot to read, and interpret there, looking forward to the discussions pending this publication.;)
Electricians going green for certain lol:D

Orange as a means of identification of an electrical conduit has been deleted. Hurrah!

524.2.2 If the total harmonic content due to triplen harmonics is greater than 33% of the fundamental line current,
an increase in the cross-sectional area of the neutral conductor may be required (see Regulation 523.6.3 and Appendix 4, section 5.5).
Joy.

527.2.4 No wiring system shall penetrate an element of building construction which is intended to be load bearing
unless the integrity of the load bearing element can be assured after such penetration.
I knew that qualification in structural engineering would come in useful!

Surge protection - fun

Must read it all sometime!

Note for installer
With respect to Part 2 item 4 of this Certificate, the omission of additional protection by 30 mA RCD for socket-outlets
(Regulation 411.3.3) and cables concealed in walls (Regulation 522.6.102), the person issuing this Certificate should be
aware that they are the designer of the work. Additional protection by RCD should only be omitted where the designer is
satisfied that this will not result in an increased risk of electric shock and that there is minimal risk of damage to the
circuit cable due to penetration by screws, nails and the like.
Note for customer
With respect to Part 2 item 4 of this Certificate, the installer (designer of the installation) may have decided to omit
additional protection by 30 mA RCD for socket-outlets and cables concealed in walls, where in their opinion this
omission will not result in an increased risk of electric shock.
In this case, an RCD is an automatic switching device installed to disconnect the supply when a person makes contact
with a live part.
The installer should have discussed the omission of the RCD with you before carrying out the work.

We don't have to stick an RCD on every minor works addition!

DPC BS:7671/AMD 1 - The IET

Just downloaded it, and it wants a password. Why would it be password protected? Or is it just my system playing silly buggers? Anyone care to share the password with me?

There is a "free" link on that page.

Just downloaded for the third time - still wants me to enter a password. I clicked on the link at the start of the second paragraph in the section headed 'What is in the DPC?'. The link is the words 'DPC can be downloaded (free)' and inspecting the link it points to http://www.----------/publishing/wiring-regulations/DPC/17th_Amd_1_DPC.pdf.cfm

Has everyone else has successfully downloaded from this link and not had to enter a password?

Not sure bud.

I clicked that link in your post and had no problems.

It does have a couple of pop up boxes (for me) and then a "read me" file.

I just close the read me file and its there.
