I've been asked a lot recently about testing 110V appliances, and the best PAT Testers to use. Most people seem to be using a battery powered tester (such as a Seaward PT100 or similar) with a home made adaptor - not ideal.

I've just written an article covering the main points and I post the link here in the hope that it's of use to members!

Of course, I'd welcome any feedback.

Choosing a PAT Tester for 110V tools

I use my robin smartpat. Mains powered but for the limited amount I do it's fine. Has a 110v plug on it

I bought the Kewtech KT71 bundle and the 110 conversion leads were included in the bundle

I also have the Kewtech71, its quick and accurate but no auto calc for the earth bond test.

I've got a metrel unit which tests 110v units BUT what Metrel don't tell you is that you need to plug it into a 110v transformer to use it to test 110v units!

Some refreshing comments on your site, one of mine for you though, the recommendations for "PAT" on appliances are set out in the IET CoP & HSE documents, so they are possibly more strictly "suggested" then those in the GN3, which is not statute law, is not a BS and is merely IET interpretations...
