Cordless Circular Saw

Hi Guys,

Decided to invest in a cordless circ saw, but not sure which to go for as I haven't had the chance to use one before. Do any of you guys use them and can you give any pointers on which one to go for.

Not looking to get a cheapo one, but still don't want to be spending silly money, I only intend to use it for cutting floorboards before pulling up.

what make are your cordless drills etc? then you can use the same battery

At the moment i've still got old dewalt drill and combi drill, which soon will need replacing as they're shot. So really a new saw will start the ball rolling with the other tool i suppose. I've noticed a lot of people slating the dewalt stuff but mine seem to have done their job ok.

Hi and welcome to the forumI have a Dewalt cordless circular saw and it goes for ages.Depends on how much you want to spend mate.

Just having a look around on the web and probably looking at a max of 250 quid. Its looks if i want lithiun batts then i'm going have to spend more than by budget. Question is - are they worth the extra cash over the older style batts?

lets be honest your not gonna be using the saw much so battery life shouldn't be a problem

Stick with the old style, even a dewalt like Mac said is good enough-we are sparkys not chippies at the end of the day

Good point, suppose they will be some good end of line offers about soon as the Li ion models are promoted more and more.

If you're drills are on the way out, I hear only positive comments about the new range of Makita Li-ion stuff.

A guy i work with has a collection of Bosch 24V tools - jigsaw, circ saw, combi drill, torch and sds drill. He reckons they're ok too.

I gots me one o them thar 18v dewalt circ saws, had it for years.

Never had a problem with it.

Ryobi do a great range of about 30 odd cordless power tools --all useing the same 18volt battery--I've just invested in their radio which seems very robust--they also sell a lot of kit bare--ie,power tool only so you don't end up with a load of duplicated chargers and batteries.--My only gripe is that no one seems to sell any 110volt chargers

I have a Bosch 24 volt circular saw and it is rock solid, having been dropped from heights many times with no defect - has a funcional depth stop so you can cut the tongue off boards without risking cutting through pipes etc. highly rated and interchangable batteries between other 24v kit. Would also rate the recriprocating saw for general tasks.

After recommendations early on in the thred i've ordered on of these DW936KBEWALT-DEWALT DW936KB 18V Heavy Duty 41 mm Depth of Cut Trimsaw

Alot cheaper than other brands but well up to the job of cutting floors.

Well impressed with the saw, can't fault it. The place i got it from has some cracking deals on power tools too.

mate i have a makita and they are hard to find but perfect for cutting flooring up because they are so small the blade is 100 mm.

i have had 2 and the first is still alive after 7 years they are the best and you will have to look on makita site to find it never seen them i any shop.
they are good for sparks and cant belive every one hasnt got 1
