Just in case anyone else had missed this litttle trumpeted morsel of information at the bottom of the latest Ofgem quarterly FIT rates table, the export rate for solar PV is going up to 4.64p per kWh, presumably from 1st April, thought that's not entirely clear.

So that's a morsel of slightly more positive news prior to the 3.5% FIT cut scheduled for July.

Only for new installations !!!

ie. On or after 1st August 2012, prior to that you will continue to receive the existing rate of 3.2p

yes, sorry, it does only apply to new installs or those already on the 4.5p export rate.

Thanks for the info, Gavin.

By the way, do you ever sleep?!
occasionally... I tend to combine a bit of work in the evenings with visits to the boards for a little light relief. I find it hard to get a lot done during the day in the office with phones ringing, and sorting general admin type stuff out... or when on site in the day, have to do another days work in the evenings to keep on top of things.

I did have a life once upon a time.

I've just spoken to Npower who have said that the export will increase for all existing FIT contracts, regardless of when it was registered.

only at the rate they had on their eligilbility date. So all the people before August 1st will be increasing from 3.2p/kWh to 3.3p/kWh I would assume?

Another prime example of the left foot doesnt know what the right foot is doing and makes us mere mortals believe no-one and question everything from everyone !!!

The export tariff - selling surplus energy

As well as the generation tariff, you can also sell any extra units you don’t use back to your electricity supplier. This is called an ‘export tariff’.
You’ll get 4.5p per unit of electricity:

  • for solar panels where you applied for FIT on or after 1 August 2012
  • for other technologies where you applied for FIT on or after 1 December 2012
If you applied for FIT before these dates you’ll continue to get 3.2p for each unit of electricity.

It does not say if that is for deemed export or metered.

Hi guys, I have looked and looked but can't find what the 21pence rate will be rising to this April. I phoned my fit provider edf and they said it won't be rising. Is this correct?

What's interesting though is that the EXPORT rate for all the installations 1st November - 31st March have therefore had an inflation rise, but the GENERATION rate (as was slipped in) doesn't get the rise.

However checking the "old 43p rate" both figures have gone up by annual RPI I see ............. or should I say mine have ( 43.3/3.1p to 45.4/3.2p )

ps> What is written in the terms should the RPI be scrapped, although at that time I imagine they didn't know it was ever to be rid of and that ppl were plotting the less favourable CPI rate for consumer consumption ??

Yep anything before 1st Novemeber got a pay rise : After that you didn't. I have read the legislation in detail (TedM may well help out here) so not sure what will happen with the rates set towards the end of this year (2013)

Seems unfair that, but I suppose you could say that about the whole arrangement/organisation of these tarifs really since day 1 or DOS day
