I'm looking to move a CU which will need cables extending. Rather than have a large junction box I am considering crimping the extensions on. I know there are two camps on crimping, but it's either a crimp or a DIN rail JB which I'd rather not use. So then, now I need to select a tool. Lots of choices, BUT...if I'm buying one I may as well get one that will do everything I need. This is where I need help! The insulated terminals are not an issue, but does anyone know of ones that also do uninsulated crimps? I'm thinking here of 10mm csa, for earth connections, down to, say 1.0 for putting ferrules on stranded cables to connect with FCU's etc. May as well try and work neat! I suppose I could possibly get away with two crimpers if I have to. Found these;

but I would probably lose the spare jaws!

Any advise on a supplier of reliable crimps / ferrules would also be gratefully received.

Cheers!

has he still got any?

I assume so, he hasn't be round yet to chew me to bits. :-)

Or...
Years ago, in that London, wifey spotted an ad in the Men for men bit in City Life, "denture wearers only need apply", he might be busying himself down the Pleasure Beach this afternoon? :-)

Have used plenty of those yokes,they were called "knock-on lugs" and went up to 100+mm,mainly on welding plant gear.Got moaned at for using adhesive heat shrink to make a neat job of it because the site lads could'nt see the "pip" to hit and re-tighten after dragging kit around by the leads...even when i'm right,i was wrong...:innocent:

Was rebadged ESAB gear, then they dropped the Murex name last year.
it were good stuff though....
lincoln electric were allrite n all....
johnson & phillips shipyard pattern welding rectifiers were another good un
as were norman butters, oxford, rowenarc, english electric ect...
all good welding plant there...
esab & kemppi dominate the market now really....
