Hi everyone,

after temporary removing a Sonoff that I've installed years ago to do some painting, I'm unable to get everything back to work. I've already burned two of them during my tries and I need help understanding why.

On the wall I have two switches, one turns on the patio light, the other turns on the kitchen lights, managed by the Sonoff.
The patio light has a bridge to the Kitchen's switch as you see in the attached picture.

Here's my wiring of the Sonoff:

The Sonoff gets fried as soon as you turn on the PATIO lights for some reasons... Does the S1 or S2 need to be specifically connected to the cable where the bridge is linked to?
I'd like to clarify that this isn't a new setup, it has been working since I've first installed it, about two years ago. I'm just reconnecting it after temporarily disconnecting it and the switch hasn't been touched recently, only when I've installed it two years ago, I kept the original wiring other than adding a earth from the box to the switch as the frame it's metal

Thanks in advance

check the instructions but i doubt the sonos switch input is expecting mains voltage to be applied to it.
the fault may be in the wiring of the switch.

Hey James, thanks for your input!
No, the S1 and S2 are low input only but I can't explain how it worked for so long without issues.
The sonoff is attached to a waigo box I've installed, does a live only cable exists? If so how is it called? 1 core and earth of 2.5? I could fit that inside the same pipe the backbox is using and connect the patio switch to the wago box I have

I can tell by looking at that switch it is wired wrong, disconnect the wires and show the whole of the switch to us front and back, I have a feeling you have put 230 volts straight onto a volt free connection which is the smart side of the switch, and the first switch doesnt look right the way the 2 cables enter the bottom, a bit more info needed

Hey MDJ, the one you see at the right ( the kitchen switch) is a momentary switch, but again that hasn’t been touched
