Another "working from home Diva"

Knock on clients door 9 am "I m having zoom meetings all morning and the banging is driving me mad (Working i=on other side of wall !) And I am working from home "

Thats it lady... Its a home. Go work in the office like you did before you suddenly jumped on the "needy Train " .She was shocked when i told her the cost to stop was 1.5 days work paid direct by transfer

THis madness has to stop !

I'm lost, what exactly is going on here? Is this a neighbour complaining about you working on a party wall or is it your customer complaining about you making noise?

working next door .Fitting new kitchen etc . Cant stand all this new "clinging" attitude so many hold since "covid " came along . Now they are all 'special " and need to work from home .But get annoyed when people disturb them . Same for tomorrow and Friday

It's not hard to get around. Just tell the zoom meeting that work is going on next door and also mute the mic until you are speaking. Common sense stuff really....

Its the Dramatic "I am online and the noise is a major issue with my ability to work" . Trouble is , Most never worked from home before Covid and now just use it as a Jolly.

Maybe some don't though. There are plenty of people who are more open to problems due to a medical condition, for instance.

I was havening a sandwich in the van and one of the neighbors tapped on the window, said excuse me could you not eat that outside my house my jaw just dropped lol that was years ago lol.

My point is some people cant shut their mouths

Plenty of businesses small and large have also closed down their (expensive) office premises in favour of shifting some or all of their team to work from home.

Working from home does not mean people are taking the mick. There is often no need to travel to an office using diesel and causing congestion. 'Needy' 'madness'? Or someone over reacting much? I know what i think

Yep companies have found it more productive. I have always worked from home on and off my place of work according to my company is my home address. I am not needy nor a diva but some people struggle with modern ways of working life.

Middle child is a call handler, and has just moved back home saving (her, at least) £700 a month. She can do her job just as well from her bedroom as she can from the office.

We do work at a complex which has a three storey office building, prior to Covid the car park was crammed but now it is deserted just half a dozen people in the IT dept. The two upper floors and the associated canteen building are disused and emptied.

What is so wrong with working from home?
It saves everyone money, cuts down on the use of cars, can often be more productive, gives people more free time as they are no longer commuting.

Yes some people will use it as an excuse to dodge work, treat it as a jolly, but then they are likely to be the same people who were just as work-shy when they were going to the office.

I wonder if anyone actually bothered to let the neighbour know that any work was going to be taking place? I doubt it, good manners like that seem to have died a death these days.

Somewhat differently I would imagine as offices generally have a higher level of background noise to offset the other noises.
Plus it is an environment where those noises are expected and normal.

I wonder if everyone's view of 'working from home' will change when the honeymoon period is over, companies have statistical evidence that the job can be done just as well from outside of the office, cutting not only overhead costs of commercial real estate, but allowing employers to outsource these jobs to the global digital community at a fraction of the wage cost. Add on top of that the lack of a need for maintenance staff (more sparks looking for employment elsewhere), cleaners, catering staff (office based and outside venues), transportation staff and the employment market is looking great..... not. Added on top of that the increased money supply due to more available disposable income from the sizeable minority of people chasing a smaller amount of goods and services, increasing inflation and some wonder wonder why everyday goods are increasing in price. But hey ho as long as some are winning in the short term, that's what really matters.

No but they may well save on fuel and also an hours travelling time each day.

There was a gov web site that you filled in if you were working from home, and they gave you money back.
I did it.
Not sure if it's still going as we got dragged back in the office.

Generally no, though some employers may make an effort, but there is a tax rebate they can claim and they will generally be saving on the cost of commuting.

And liability insurance to cover them working at home, a risk assessment etc etc . who is carrying out checks etc ? what happens when a accident occurs at home during "work time " etc ? Who says the equipment been used is PAT tested and safe ,desk and chair suitable and correct height etc. A good employment lawyer might be thinking "£££££" to be made

Risk assessments are often carried out to ensure they have suitable seating/display positions etc in the same way they would be if they were in the office.

I work from home when I'm doing my paperwork.....
I think most of us probably do.
I have only ever worked in an office for a short period of time and I think it would be fair to say it didn't work out very well for me or anybody else in the office.
Some folks are just better off out of the way and left in peace.
