Hi there does anyone know how to get around paying an agency fee for processing your money, I think that the fee of £18 or more is a joke and I hate paying it, it is a complete and utter con. They pay us as low as they can as it is, without taking money for a process fee or whatever it is they call it, what do we get out of paying this fee, NOTHING THATS WHAT.

Please help!

totally agree mate. i have to pay to get paid also! i dont know how they get away with it. i often think, that the " pay companies" are owned by the same people who own the agency. the problem is, that if you kick up too much of a stink, then you wont get work through that agency again, and as every agency is at it, then where does that leave us?

yeah i know what you mean they are all in it together, I hate the lot of them, i dont know why companies don't just take people on, on a self employed basis their selves and cut these robbing b*****d's out for good, they do nothing but take money off us for doing basically nothing.

the thing is, the agencies are just another creditor to knock, if the company hits hard times, and the agency still has to pay you. So in other words, the work may still get completed, and you still get paid, but the agency get knocked.

Just remember lads this is an open forum and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that agencies have a little read of these.

Fairgate (01217644444) only charge £15 per week.
The only way to avoid the fees, is to become a Ltd. company, I'm afraid.
Unfortunately, being Ltd. involves loads of paperwork and returns with four different departments of Inland Revenue, and Companies House.

Bloke I used to work with swears by Brooksons for his Ltd company setup. Sends the timesheets to them, they do all the paperwork, bill the client and pay your money into the bank with no other input than that. There are flat rte expenses that you can claim against your tax bill also (sundries, meals if away from home, mileage etc) which also help reduce your tax bill. At the end of the year they take care of his books etc and no further input is required.

At the end of the day £20 * 50 weeks for payment from these mobs is more or less what your yearly cost would be to an accountant for your books etc. Your accountant will be able to advise you on further tax breaks that will more than pay for his services. However, if you are VAT registered then you charge VAT @ 20% and using the flat rate VAT scheme actually pay HMRC 14% VAT (deps on your trade/speciality), so a tidy 6% for nothing.
