Hi there my name is Adam and I have my am2 at the end of June an I'm bricking it lol.
Thought i would start this thread to see if any one has got any advice for the exam would be great.
i feel confident in most parts of the install apart from the lighting, heating system and embarrassingly the bonding as I haven't really done any and also the fault finding. With the lighting circuit there seems to be differing opinions on how it should be done does the spec change from test centre to test centre or same for all candidates? And finally what should I be revising for the online assessment.
thanks for reading any help would be gratefully appreciated

regards

It was alot easier than I expected when I did it. Bit of revision and you should be O.K, they give you a spec to work off and you just crack on

First of all before you start the practical exam make sure the install is locked off with a padlock and you TAKE THE KEY WITH YOU. Not doing that and you will fail before you start. Otherwise just practice over and over the bits you aren't so sure on and make sure you're confident with the wiring and you'll be fine. I found it quite easy for time when I did mine and I'm sure you get longer now as well.
Fault finding was a doddle as well, they give you a whole selection of testers you can use but I found every fault just using a bell tester.

I seem to remember that they did a refresher day for a small additional fee, which is well worth doing. Although it's been a few years since I did mine so it may well have changed slightly.

the 2 way and inter switch must be connected from the switch below the light.so live from cu to L1 live from light L2 connect N in waggo.3 core then to connect to inter/switch then 3 core to final switch.remember to connect common at inter/switch to waggo then fix to common at last 2 way..

Hey robbo1 I see what your saying but I was under the impression that the feed from db had to got the first two way and feed to light from last two way or have I miss read it

Just a thought .. they also included a landlords overide switch to the lighting circuit when I did mine. Maybe worth looking out for in the spec/drawing.

you have a 2 way to the left of the board then the inter then the second 2 way on the far left as you look at your bay.the light is above this switch.also remember you have a data point in-between the first 2way and the inter, don't use this as your switches.

heating is really easy.its just wiring by numbers.cross off each single as you run it in.you can not go wrong..took me about an hour to do this.8.5 is loads of time for the build
