Hi

As the title suggests I have my 92 and all other relevant documents but am I right in thinking that to change a CU I would need my 91 as once I have installed the CU I will then need to test someone else's work.

Thanks

Anyone can change a consumer unit
They are supposed to follow the procedures set out for part p with regard notification to the council where appropriate

Whether someone is competent to do the job is another matter

If you are asking the question, then it tends to make me think that you may not believe that you are competent
If you have doubt in your competence then dont do it
If on the other hand, you can leave the job knowing the safety of the property and the occupants are assured then crack on

Had to edit because I keep writing part B after reading a thread the other day, sometimes brainwashing does work

As above. You just have to be competent to install it as regards safety and design implications. How you go about the bureaucracy is another matter though if it is in a domestic situation.

As said above

Make sure you get LABC to sign it off unless you are using it to sign off your Napit/NICEIC application.

Taking you only have the 2391, you dont have the 17th Edition s you wont be able to register with above anyway (Apart from Napit - but you need it within 6 months of registering)

Nicholas you got me beat with that, I cant make sense of it sorry ?

i have 2392, 17th edition, and part p and i know I'm competent its just I was a little unsure of the paperwork side of things and wanted to clarify, as obviously once I have changed the CU I will then have to test every circuit which of course will be someone else's work.

If you are changing a CU then it is you that would do the tests afterwards to confirm you have done it correctly. I would also do tests before you start or you may open up a can of worms that may take longer to put right than expected... borrowed neutrals, etc..

Sorry miss read as 2391 instead of 2392 - lol

If you have the 17th Edition and you are competent then you can do the work and LABC to sign it off if your not with Napit/NICEIC, etc

If you are with them then you should know the procedure

Otherwise it would be an idea to register with one of them, will save you money in the long run.

There is nothing stopping you from doing the tests - you just cant sign it off unless you register with one of the above.

You can also issue PIRs as well. But you have to prove your competent, which the Napit/Niceic ussualy gives that impression

I take it you have no issues re changing the CU its the paperwork side you are unsure of!

A CU exchange will require a EIC and both schedule of inspection and test results which you need to record all of your test results and relevant details.
